Tanneshia Dukes would be replacing Republican who never adequately represented the district. He was one of the architects of in the infamous HB-2 ("The Bathroom Bill") and has been a strong proponent of gerrymandering and the school vouchers. Tanneshia, on the other hand, is fighting for all the right things - for the real issues that impact North Carolinians: (1) EDUCATION (she is a former assistant principal who believes in fully funding public education, including early childhood education and increasing teacher pay), (2) VOTING RIGHTS (she believes in making it easier for people to cast their ballots in order to allow democracy to thrive in North Carolina), (3) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (she believes in focusing on sustainable ways to use ARPA funds, including investments in long-term infrastructure), (4) MATERNAL/WOMEN'S RIGHTS (shoring up the childcare crisis and focusing on bodily autonomy). These progressive values are in direct contrast to her MAGA Republican opponent.
