Since announcing his grassroots campaign, Ruben Gallego has met with Indivisible groups across every corner of the state to answer their questions and hear about the issues most important to them: abortion rights, protecting our democracy, water rights, fighting MAGA extremism, and more. A son of immigrants, Ruben had a working class upbringing. He worked his way to Harvard University, and then enlisted in the Marines, deploying to Iraq. Indivisibles recognize in him the grit, integrity, and dedication to public service that we need in a Senator.
It’s clear that he’s running a different kind of campaign, responsive to regular Arizonans instead of to wealthy donors. The grassroots enthusiasm behind him is palpable. Not only is he accessible, he’s responsive to our priorities. Protecting abortion rights is a top priority for AZ Indivisibles, which is why we’re throwing so much into supporting the Abortion Access Amendment. In Ruben Gallego’s second statewide virtual town hall, AZ Indivisibles asked him to cosponsor all three bills that make up Indivisible’s Reproductive Freedom Agenda – policies that go beyond codifying Roe to protect access to abortion care. He immediately agreed.
Gallego consistently leads polling in a potential three-way race. That’s because his message and appeal extends to Democrats and independents alike, who are repulsed by MAGA Republicans like Kari Lake and turned off by craven sellouts like Kyrsten Sinema. Even this far out from the election, it’s clear that Gallego will be the Democratic nominee, having won broad support from across all wings of the party. It’s our job to send a real Democrat.
We have a lot of work to do in 2024: defending the Presidency and retaking the House, but also making sure that we have a working Democratic Senate majority. Ruben Gallego is the only candidate in this race who we can trust to do everything possible in the Senate to codify the legal right to an abortion in this country.
