WASHINGTON, D.C. — Indivisible Action announced the addition of Senator Mark Kelly (AZ) to the organization’s “Give No Ground” incumbent protection program (see: CNN) that will provide support to vulnerable incumbents who are crucial to Democrats achieving their agenda this Congress and maintaining the trifecta power in 2022.
Senator Mark Kelly’s addition to Indivisible’s “Give No Ground” program comes just after he announced his support of a rules change in order to pass voting rights in the Senate, and one day after Indivisible’s flash poll of Arizonans that showed 94% of Indivisibles in Arizona support finding a Democratic primary challenger to Senator Sinema in 2024 if she does not join Senator Kelly in his support of changing the rules to pass voting rights.
"At a time of festering authoritarianism in Arizona and across the country, Senator Kelly is rising to the occasion to serve his constituents and defend our democracy,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible. “While his fellow Arizonan senator sides with Mitch McConnell, Kelly sides with Arizonans. Indivisible is adding him to our Give No Ground program to ensure he remains a solid voice for the people and the republic in 2023 and beyond."
This race is one of several “Give No Ground” races that include some of the most highly-watched districts in the country. The exact details of the program’s IE spending and volunteer mobilization are still in development, but will be designed to be a value-add in every contest. The list of targeted races will reflect the evolving electoral landscape, with additional seats expected to be added as races become more competitive throughout the cycle. Programming will build directly on expertise Indivisible Action has built over past cycles, and grounded in one of Indivisible’s core beliefs: that Democrats win when they fight for every potential vote, overlooking no one. General direct voter contact efforts in different districts will vary, but will include phonebanking, texts, radio and newspaper advertising and other elements.
