Atlanta, GA — Indivisible Action is announcing a series of interviews with 2020 presidential contenders, live-streamed to movement activists and the public on its social media channels:
-
Elizabeth Warren - Thursday, November 21 at 2:45pm EST, from Atlanta
-
Tom Steyer - Thursday, November 21 at 6pm EST, from Atlanta
-
Cory Booker - Monday, November 25 at 10:30am EST
-
Julián Castro - Monday , November 25 at 4:15pm EST
The first two interviews, with Elizabeth Warren and Tom Steyer, will take place on Thursday, November 21. The interviews will be conducted by founders and co-executive directors Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin, with input on questions coming from Indivisible activists. These first two conversations will take place live in Atlanta and be attended by Indivisible group leaders from around the country. They will be closed to press but viewable online. The next two, with Cory Booker and Julián Castro, will be taking place virtually on Monday, November 25.
The interviews are the latest step in a presidential candidate evaluation process that the Indivisible movement is developing this cycle, with the goal of ensuring Indivisible’s grassroots community has an opportunity to evaluate candidates on their values, policy positions and their vision for governing.
In recent weeks, Indivisible Action sent candidates a questionnaire, and has announced it will be releasing a scorecard that evaluates their positions and priorities on issues that Indivisibles say matter most to them.
Candidates who were invited to participate in the candidate interviews had to have signed onto the We Are Indivisible pledge, completed a questionnaire, and either qualified for the October debate stage or ever had a net-positive rating from the Indivisible movement in surveys.
Indivisible has not reached a movement-wide decision on making an endorsement. The discussion began at an August plenary with 300 Indivisible leaders from across the country sharing their feedback on the pros and cons of a movement-wide endorsement and is continuing in a variety of venues.
The candidate interviews will be streamed live on Indivisible’s Youtube, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The organization is in discussion with additional candidates and anticipates announcing more ahead.
