Washington, DC—On the second-to-last-day of Open Enrollment, Republican attacks on Americans’ health care continued with news that a conservative judge in Texas absurdly ruled that the entire Affordable Care Act (ACA) is unconstitutional—a ruling that is sure to be appealed.
“The ACA remains the law of the land. Period,” said Chad Bolt, Associate Policy Director at Indivisible. “This case will most certainly be appealed and cooler, less partisan judicial heads will prevail and find that the Affordable Care Act is indeed constitutional.”
“Republicans desperately tried to fool the American people into thinking they were on their side, that they supported protections for pre-existing conditions during the midterm elections,” Bolt went on to say. “But this case—supported by 18 Republican state Attorneys General—lays bare that Republicans have sabotaged the Affordable Care Act at every turn, and that they have no reservations in ripping health care away from 23 million Americans who rely on it.”
The ruling was quickly followed up with lies from the President on Twitter, where he incorrectly claimed that the Affordable Care Act was overturned. It was not.
Open Enrollment runs through tomorrow, December 15.
