WASHINGTON, D.C.—This morning, joining leaders from United We Dream and other immigrant leaders and allies at a press conference in Washington, DC, Indivisible’s Managing Director María Urbina issued the following remarks:
“This moment couldn't be a more clear choice point about how to stand with all immigrant families across our communities. Say it loud, say it clear: immigrants are welcome here!
“This morning President Biden echoed that it's his fervent hope that through reconciliation or other means, Congress will finally provide security to all Dreamers, who have lived too long in fear.
“We need to hear from everyone in the Democratic Caucus and continuously from the President how they plan to transform fervent hope into enactment. I want to hear every single Democrat in the Senate say clearly their plan to deliver permanent protections for immigrants through reconciliation.
“We cannot wait for Republicans to continue their two-sided approach to immigrant families. When they're home they pay lip service but while in Washington they peddle the polítics of delay, detention and deportation.
“We will not stand for policies that harm some immigrants and hurt others. We will continue to call for urgent permanent protections NOW. No more excuses!”
