WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Leah Greencberg, Co-Executive Director of the Indivisible Project, issued the following statement:
“Last night’s announcement from the Senate Parliamentarian is not the final decision in the fight for citizenship- it’s just the beginning. We have always stated that this would be a multi-step process that would require fierce advocacy by advocates and by our elected leaders. Inaction, further delay, and procedural excuses are unacceptable. Immigrants need citizenship now.
“Senate Democrats should not let this setback diminish their dedication to support a pathway to full citizenship for these individuals. Many of those seeking a path to citizenship were risking their lives daily to keep our economy afloat by performing essential services during a deadly pandemic. Any efforts to create an inclusive economic recovery must recognize their contribution and Senate Democrats have an opportunity and obligation to pass a reconciliation bill reflecting that.”

ABOUT THE INDIVISIBLE PROJECT
The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy - of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
