Washington, DC — Tonight, Indivisible issued the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s threat to mobilize the military and use deadly force against protesters:
“The president is an unhinged white supremacist who has gleefully threatened protestors with death all while hiding in his bunker in the White House,” said Meagan Hatcher-Mays, Director of Democracy Policy of the Indivisible Project. “Trump has done nothing to quell the brutal tactics that police have deployed against protestors exercising their First Amendment rights because he has absolutely no problem with state-sanctioned violence aimed at Black and brown people. He enjoys it because he’s a racist who pretends at being a tough guy. Trump is a thug and a coward and November cannot possibly come soon enough.”
“At Indivisible, we believe Black Lives Matter without qualifications, asterisks, or add-ons. We believe in protesting injustice. We believe in the right of communities to protect themselves against state-sanctioned violence,” said Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of the Indivisible Project. “We are committed to standing in solidarity with Black communities threatened by police violence and by the forces of hate and white supremacy.”
