Washington, DC — Today, Angel Padilla, National Policy Director for the Indivisible Project, issued the following statement:
“In 2018, Indivisibles across the country worked tirelessly to help break Republican control of Congress because the members of our movement wanted representatives who would fight for them and offer bold solutions to the problems we faced. Democrats ran on a platform of lowering prescription drug prices, and H.R. 3 is a good foundation that will begin to relieve the financial burden that pharmaceutical corporations have imposed on countless families across this country.
We are proud to have worked with Reps. Pramila Jayapal, Mark Pocan, Lloyd Doggett, and the broader Congressional Progressive Caucus in support of improvements that ensure millions more people will pay lower prices for their drugs. These changes are evidence of the positive change that progressives in Congress, backed up by the grassroots, can achieve when they exercise their power. While we are disappointed that other gaps in the bill remain, such as its failure to lower prices for people without insurance, H.R. 3 would nevertheless go a long way to protect people from predatory pharmaceutical corporations. We support this legislation, and urge Congress to act to pass it.”
