Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible’s chief campaigns officer Sarah Dohl released the following statement:
“Trump fled from Project 2025 because he knew it was a parade of politically radioactive, extremist policies. Now, he’s putting the guy who authored it in charge of the entire federal budget. Democrats should have obliterated his credibility during today’s hearing. Why campaign on the dangers of Project 2025 only to barely mention it when its chief architect is sitting right in front of you? Don’t bury the lead—lay it out plain and clear. They should be relentlessly exposing the fact that Trump is already betraying his most high-profile campaign promises.
We know the Trump administration will overreach. We know backlash is coming. These confirmation hearings are a prime battleground to establish that narrative immediately and decisively. Democrats should be lighting up the room, tearing through the spin, and exposing the dangers at every turn.
In today’s hearing, Russell Vought brazenly doubled down on his fanatical loyalty to Donald Trump. He dodged straightforward questions, evaded accountability, and demonstrated total contempt for constitutional principles. His stonewalling and refusal to engage in honest dialogue prove just how far he’s willing to go to serve Trump’s agenda at the expense of the rule of law and the American people. Democrats needed to go harder, push further, and make it impossible for anyone watching to look away.
The next four years are going to be a fight — it's time for Democrats to show the American people that they're ready for it.
